Antonio will be releasing two new exciting projects this spring The Meridian Suite due out on June 9, 2015.
The Meridian Suite is by far the most ambitious project Antonio has conceptualized to date. In a one hour-plus continuous piece of music he wrote for his flagship project, The Migration Band, he explores the concept of Meridians: imaginary lines that divide our planet, our universe, our bodies and that allow us to accurately calculate time. Each section of the Suite is relevant in some way or another to these complex subjects and musically attempts to portray his vision of how these imaginary lines flow through us, guide us and influence us in the most subtle and profound ways.
“Three Times Three” is a special guest Trio combination cd that Antonio did with Brad Mehldau/ Matt Brewer, John Scofield/ Christian McBride, Joe Lovano/John Patitucci. While currently available in Europe and the rest of the world it is slated for release in North America in the spring of 2015. Antonio composed 2 original tracks for each trio and arranged 1 standard for each trio. The musicianship on this recording is brilliant and exceptionally demonstrates Antonio as a composer who brings depth, sensitivity and beauty to his compositions. The US Release date is April 28, 2015
Bast Releases New EP
The rock power trio Bast was formed in the Fall of 2014 when 3 veterans of the Atlanta music scene came together. They trio bonded together over their love of songwriting and performing a newer, fresh style of rock music. The band is fronted by award winning guitarist and lead vocalist, Vanessa Izabella. Drummer Tony Panzarella, and Bassist Hugh Ellis round out the trio. The band proves to be powerful songwriters, and their music has been drawn from many different styles from vintage rock to pop.
Bast will be releasing a 5 song EP in early 2015 which was recorded and produced by famed Atlanta music producer Mike Froedge and mastered by world-renowned engineer Rodney Mills.
Joey Calderazzo who is noted for his illustrious collaborations to remarkable saxophonists Michael Brecker and Brandford Marsalis has come forth with a brilliant new recording ‘Going Home’ on Sunnyside Records. Joined by Orlando Le Fleming-bass and Adam Cruz-drums, Calderazzo saw the establishment of his trio as a means to strengthen his craft by working on material and musical concepts that he would not ordinarily work on. The exclusion of horn has made a focus on dynamics more important. Calderazzo also began to explore standards again, as he hadn’t focused on them since the duo gigs he made as a teenager and there were no opportunities to play them with Brecker or Marsalis.
In light of the progress he has made with his trio, Calderazzo views Going Home as a snapshot of a work in progress, an experiment that continues to progress and wield an abundance of intriguing results. The recording provided an opportunity for Calderazzo to step away from is natural inclinations and approach the music in a new exciting way.
