THE LOCAL NYC is the New York City based songwriting team of TIM CHAMPEAUX (Lyrics) and JON COWHERD (Music).
Champeaux is the singer, and Cowherd handles the keyboards, backing vocals and all the producing duties.
Their single "Addict Me" can be heard on HBO’S Original Series Image Campaign, and the song reached #2 on Amazon’s Roots Rock Chart.
Tim Champeaux and Jon Cowherd met at Miss Mae's Place in New Orleans during the latter part of the last century while attending Loyola University. They bonded instantly, both having a healthy respect for Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits and Tequila.
Champeaux and Cowherd moved to NYC and the duo began writing songs together; Champeaux writing the lyrics, Cowherd writing the music.
Their debut CD "Just Show Up" was recorded at Unique Studios in Times Square NYC.
Cowherd’s extensive performance and production credits include Joni Mitchell, Daniel Lanois, Iggy Pop, Katherine McPhee, Brian Blade and Rosanne Cash just to name a few. Champeaux has worked with The Brand New Heavies, The Toasters and NYC legends The Second Step.
In addition to his role in The Local NYC, Jon Cowherd is a multi-talented musician, composer, arranger and producer.
Tim Champeaux is also a nationally recognized Voice Over talent. You’ve heard Tim on promos for Sex and the City, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and countless commercials and movie trailers. |
